About

Denis Piel is a French photographer and filmmaker who has been working in the industry for over 40 years. He is best known for his fashion photography, which has been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar.

Piel was born in Paris in 1954 and grew up surrounded by art and culture. His father was a painter and his mother was a sculptor, so it's no surprise that he developed an interest in photography at an early age. He began taking pictures of his family and friends when he was just 12 years old.

In 1975, Piel moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography. He quickly established himself as one of the top fashion photographers of the time, shooting for some of the biggest names in the industry including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren. His work has also been featured on the covers of numerous magazines including GQ, Esquire, and Vanity Fair.

In addition to his fashion photography work, Piel has also directed several short films and documentaries. His most notable film is "The Last Days of Disco" (1998), which won him an award at the Cannes Film Festival. He has also directed music videos for artists such as Madonna and David Bowie.

Throughout his career, Piel has remained committed to pushing boundaries with his work while still maintaining a sense of beauty and elegance. His photographs are often characterized by their vibrant colors and bold compositions that capture the essence of each subject he photographs.
