He studied photography at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and graduated with honors in 1998. After graduation, he worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers, including Le Monde and Libération.

In 2002, Daniel opened his own studio in Paris where he specialized in portrait photography. His work has been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and GQ. He has also had solo exhibitions of his work at galleries around the world including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
