Amos Mac is a celebrated photographer, writer, and publisher who has been documenting the queer community for over two decades. Born in San Francisco in 1975, Mac grew up in a creative and diverse environment that shaped his passion for photography.

Mac began his career as a freelance photographer in the late 1990s, shooting for magazines such as Out and The Advocate. His work quickly gained recognition for its honest and intimate portrayal of queer life. In 2003, he co-founded Original Plumbing magazine, which became an important platform for trans visibility and representation.

In addition to his editorial work, Mac has also produced several books of photography including Transcendents: Spirit Mediums in Burma (2008), Transluminate (2012), and Amos Mac: Photographs (2015). His photographs have been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Mac’s work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Vogue, W Magazine, i-D Magazine, and The Guardian. He has also received numerous awards including the Lucie Award for Documentary Photography (2014) and the International Center of Photography Infinity Award (2016).

Mac currently lives in Los Angeles with his partner and their two children. He continues to document queer life through his photography while also advocating for LGBTQ rights.
