Victoria\'s Secret changes Perfect Body Campaign slogan after public backlash

Lingerie giant Victoria's Secret have changed its latest advert tagline following public criticism of their "Perfect Body" slogan. “The Perfect ‘Body” slogan now reads “A Body For Every Body” on their website to reflect a inclusive and healthy message.

Prior to the change, the ad featured ten very slim and tall models with the slogan "The Perfect Body" printed in the middle. Victoria’s Secret had pulled the image off its website after facing a backlash on claims of 'body shaming' and promoting unrealistic, negative body images by suggesting that the 'perfect' body is tall and slender.

While body positive campaigners can celebrate their victory, its worth noting that the company has only made the change on its online campaign so far and posters in stores still continue to display the controversial tagline.

Around 27,000 people signed the online petition at change.org which had asked for an apology and amendment of the campaign. While the campaign has been changed, the company is yet to apologize for the original message.
