Saint Laurent To Open Two New Museums

Two new museums dedicated to the work of Yves Saint Laurent are set to open around autumn next year.

Set in Paris and Marrakech, the two museums will offer fans for the first time, an intimate look at Saint Laurent's career, designs and life in the atelier. In Paris, the existing Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation at 5 Avenue Marceau where Laurent spent thirty years working, will be returned to its original condition. The rest of the house also has around twenty thousand pieces from his collections over the years.

In Marakkech, the museum is a tribute to Saint Laurent's love for the Moroccan city. There is a permanent collection of work by Laurent as well as a space for exhibitions. The museum will also feature a wide variety of archive material show including more than 15,000 couture accessories. In addition, thousands of original sketches also be shown with mood boards, pictures and different objects. The nearby Majorelle Garden, built by Jacques Majorelle was bought by Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge in 1980. 'When Yves Marakkech in 1966, first visited, it felt so good that he immediately bought a house so he often coming back,' Berge told British newspaper The Telegraph.


The renovation of the museum is run by designers Nathalie Griniere and Jacques Grange, who have done several renovations for the French fashion house.
