Newsmaker Of The Week: Alessandra Facchinetti

Our newsmaker this week is Alessandra Facchinetti.

The Italian fashion designer stepped down from her role as creative director of Tod's women's collections earlier last week.

The daughter of famed Italian singer Roby Facchinetti, took over the company's creative directorship in 2013, replacing its then former Creative Director Derek Lam. She made an impressive debut with her Spring '14 collection.

Alessandra, a graduate from Istituto Marangoni in Milan, made her start working at the Prada Group for seven years, designing for Miu Miu, Prada's sister line. Later she worked for Tom Ford at Gucci for four years. From 2007 to 2008, she was creative director and couturier at Valentino but was dismissed allegedly because she did not draw enough on Valentino's archives.

In 2011 she launched a new project called Uniqueness in collaboration with Italian label Pinko but stepped down from her position of creative director.
