Margot Robbie To Star In New Gucci Biopic?

Margot Robbie could be starring in a Gucci family drama.

The film which has the working title of 'Gucci', centers around the murder of Maurizio Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci and former head of the fashion house who was killed by a hitman. 'The Grandmaster' director Wong Kar-wai has been tapped to direct it, while screenwriters Andrea Berloff ('World Trade Center') and Charles Randolph ('The Big Short') have worked on drafts of the script.

Robbie's role is rumoured to be that of Patricia Reggiani, wife of Maurizio who was sentenced to 26 years in prison for arranging the murder (through a hitman) after the 46-year-old Maurizio sold his stocks in the fashion house for US$170 million. Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz were previously set to play the role of Patricia.

The project is still in early stages of development with casting for the role of Maurizio yet to be announced.
