Calvin Klein launches underwear line with the Andy Warhol Foundation

Calvin Klein and the Andy Warol Foundation for visual arts have collaborated on a capsule underwear collection.

The collection which was first announced at the end of November 2017, consists of tank tops, t-shirts, a men's brief and boxer brief, and a women's bralette and bikini. Each item features two evocative, black and white stills from the 1963 Andy Warhol film Kiss which was met with controversy at the time, and was the artist's response to Hollywood censorship, which forbade a kissing scene that lasted longer than three seconds.

The film was considered provocative for its depiction of biracial and homosexual pairings. Warhol trained his camera in close-up on 12 couples kissing, for 3 1/2 minutes each. It featured a mix of countercultural luminaries and the artist's self-styled Factory 'superstars' including Gerard Malanga and Baby Jane Holzer.

The Calvin Klein Andy Warhol Foundation partnership is a long-term one that will allow the brand unprecedented access to the pop art maestro's oeuvre until 2020.

The 'Calvin Klein x Andy Warhol' collection is now available at calvinklein.com and Calvin Klein outlets. Prices range between 27 euros for a men's brief and 37 euros for a bra.
