Supermodel’s Italian love match ends in row over ‘stolen money’
tanya fourie
Love has turned sour for local supermodel Tanya Fourie, who claims that her Italian ex-lover, soccer star Nicola Caricola, stole millions from her Swiss bank account.
Caricola used to play for Turin club Juventus, billed as the most successful team in the history of Italian football.
Fourie, from Durbanville in Cape Town, has graced magazine covers and catwalks around the world.
She was 20 years old when she gave birth to the couple’s first child, Sean, in 1993.
The glamorous pair moved into a converted 17th century stable block in Genoa, Italy, and their second child, Luca, was born eight years later.
But their relationship hit the rocks amid allegations that Caricola was dealing in cocaine.
This week, Fourie filed papers at the Cape High Court in which she accuses Caricola of theft.
In her affidavit, the model, who lives in the luxurious Welgedacht security estate in Cape Town, says Caricola withdrew more than R2-million — in euros — from her bank account between March 2003 and November 2005, without her knowledge or consent. He allegedly made 16 withdrawals.
She is claiming the money, interest and legal costs.
Caricola, who has a home in Tokai, Cape Town, is disputing the claim.
The case will be heard later this month.
