You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours is pretty much a given in showbusiness and Paris Hilton showed last night that she understands that as well as anyone.
She has made her fondness of Princes Harry and William clear before so it came as no surprise when she took up a request from Harry's best friend to attend a fundraising party for a children's charity at a London nightclub.
The 28-year-old heiress was even spotted slipping the royals her phone number during her last visit to England.
Guy Pelly, who is Mahiki's promotions manager, benefited in turn because he knew that wherever Paris goes the cameras are sure to follow.
But it seems the attention was all too much for the socialite, who locked herself in the toilets for 20 minutes blubbing - and rather incredulously putting her tears down to the presence of the paparazzi.
To help raise the celebrity attraction threshold Paris was joined by fellow reality TV star Kelly Osbourne and interior designer Nicky Haslam.
However, while Paris clearly enjoyed the limelight and inching towards the royals it was unclear whether the same could be said of her current beau, baseball player Doug Reinhardt.
After dining with Pelly and friends and being driven away with Paris towards the nightclub he looked as if he wished he was a million miles away.
Among the party at the nightspot with Kelly and Paris - who have been friends for a number of years - were Kelly's fiance Luke Worrall who likewise stepped back to let the women step into the limelight.
Before heading to the nightclub in aid of the Home Start charity Paris and Doug had dined at upmarket Piccadilly eaterie The Wolseley with Pelly, his girlfiend Susanna Warren and Haslam.
One person who was noticeably absent was Sussex teenager Samuel Hextall whom Paris picked as her British Best Friend last month on her reality show.
Perhaps Sam had little to offer in such esteemed company.
Looking refreshed after a recent holiday to Florida, Kelly flew the British flag in her Union Jack jersey dress.
In contrast, Paris went for a 1920-inspired little black dress with one-shoulder strap and a sparkly headband.
On her arm was Doug, who looked dapper in a grey suit, while Kelly's teenage model fiancé was his usual casual self in a t-shirt and jeans.
Also at the club was newly-single Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah, who recently split from traveller boyfriend Freddie Fuller after six years together.
The hotel heiress and Doug, 23, flew into London yesterday after spending a few days in Amsterdam.
The capital is just the latest destination Paris and her toyboy have been to since they began their jet-setting relationship less than three months ago.
In their few months together, they have been to Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Europe.
They started dating in February, a few weeks after Doug ended his brief relationship with Hairspray star Amanda Bynes.
Doug is Paris's first relationship since her high-profile split from Good Charlotte rocker Benhi Madden after ten months together.
Writing on her MySpace page recently, Paris gushed about her new beau, but denied reports they had got engaged.
She said: 'He's my best friend, we are so much alike, we love to travel and we have the most incredible time together no matter where we are.
'I've never been happier. He truly treats me like his princess and that's how every girl should always be treated, never forget that ladies.
'My parents love him too, so I'm really happy about that. I love his parents as well, they are such a lovely family. His mother is stunning, so beautiful, sweet, funny and smart. We all had such an amazing time in Maui together, so I'm glad Doug's getting to know my family as well.'
