German supermodel Charlott Cordes is on the verge of international stardom after appearing in high-profile campaigns for Chanel, Givenchy, DKNY, DeBeers, Moschino, Laurel and Strenesse, among others.
Like most models that have made it huge in the modeling industry, this green-eyed eyecatcher didn't originally aspire to become a professional fashion model, although she used to be a kid model in her early childhood.
Since being discovered at the age of 14, this 5’9.5” long-legged stunner began gracing the covers of various magazines, including the German Elle and FHM, but she also found herself being featured in numerous Vogue editorials, which included a Russian Vogue editorial photographed by Karl Lagerfeld.
In addition to being drop-dead gorgeous, Charlott has also successfully joined the top of the upcoming IFDAQ and on that score we decided to crown her as our Model of the Month for October...

How did you get started in the modeling business?

When I was 6 years old a photographer made polaroids of me and my hockeygirls during workout/training. I started modelling in an agency for kids. After 1 year I was fed up with it. My brother was more successful anyway. At the age of 14 my father´s friend, who knows Heidi Gross, sent me to see her at Model Management.

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?

Actually not... I was always asked. I never thought of making an application.

What do you like most about modeling? What do you like least?

You see a lot of the world and you don´t even have to pay for the tickets.
Generally I don´t like to be alone. That`s why I always find the shortest way home after a job :-)

Ever get tempted to get pulled into the party scene?

Never ever – totally not my choice.

Have you developed any new interests since you started modelling?

Not really, but I try to see my friends as much I can, when I am in Hamburg.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

Sports (Hockey, Tennis, Soccer), Friends, driving in my convertible, doing handicrafts with my little sister, vacation...

Out of all the places your career has taken you, where was the most memorable?

Paris – where I had my first big jobs
NY – because the first time I was there alone, I tried to get home before the job even started. I´ve never felt so queasy in a city before.

Do you have a mentor? Who? What is it about them that affects you? Why?

My family and my mother agency... I always like to hear a second opinion when not being 100% sure about something. They support me a lot.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? What could be your next career?

I don´t know how long I can do this job or how long I would like do to it. 10 years is a long time. Maybe I go to university.

What are your best beauty secrets? How do you stay in shape?

Take off all your make-up before you go to bed, drink a lot and don´t do so much with your skin.
Young skin knows how to protect itself best.

What would you want people to know about you?

I´m just a normal girl...

Any advice for new models? What advice would you give other models starting out?

Finish school but take the industry seriously and try to balance it out and don´t try to take yourself too serious.

Favourite fashion designer:

There are plenty of great designers out there but I always wear what I like. A particular brand doesn’t matter to me.

Favourite kind of food:

The German cuisine is extensive....

Favourite kind of music:

I like whatever sounds great to my ears – no matter what musical style it is.

What are your favourite 3 songs at the moment?:

Just 3? What about Charlott’s Billboard Hot 100?

If I were trapped on an island I'd take:

A jet ski and a friend to have fun during the day and a working telephone to somehow bring us back to reality.

Thank you Charlott for this great interview!

Special thanks to Patrick and Model Management Hamburg.
