About

Simone Parmentier was born in 1920 in Paris, France. She was the daughter of a dressmaker and as a girl she worked with milliner Rose Valois and for the house of fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli.

In 1937, she eloped and married Mr. Mirman, and then found work in Schiaparelli's London salon.

Simone's hats have always been favourites with photographers.

In 1947, she set up her own hat shop. In 1952, Princess Margaret ordered several of her hats and introduced Simone Mirman to other members of the Royal Family. This resulted in her hats being in great demand in the 50's and 60's.

She went on to design hats for the collections from the London houses of designers Dior, Yves St. Laurent and Norman Hartnell.
