Catherine Maladrino was born in Grenoble, France and now works in New York City as well as in Paris.
She began her career in Paris, working in the house of Emanuel Ungaro, Louis Feraud, and at Et Vous. She moved to New York where she became head designer for Diane von Furstenberg.
In 1998 Catherine launched her own label from a workshop in Soho, New York , with her soon-to-be husband Bernard Aidan. Her clothes started to be retailed at Henri Bendel store. Since starting her own label, Malandrino has woven together the two poles of her being; the energy of Manhattan, and the romance of Paris. Malandrino's fashion creations have featured in Style, New York Times, Vogue and Elle.
Fall 2002, Catherine Malandrino Limited Edition was launched - a higher priced collection with a very exclusive distribution. A new luxury approach to dressing Catherine Malandrino Limited edition is a line of ninety pieces, each piece with its own strong individuality. This season, the line includes the new luxurious, soft -tailored jacket, a trench coat for day, and fine draping for evening.
In 2006, Malandrino appeared as guest judge on the reality television program Project Runway

In 1998 Malandrino introduced a higher-end collection, Catherine Malandrino Limited Edition, an exclusive 90-piece line with an equally high price point. She now has stores in New York's' Soho and Meatpacking districts, East Hampton, and L.A.
Both Catherine Malandrino Collection and Catherine Malandrino Limited Edition are currently sold internationally in the US, England, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, France and Italy. Price points range from $600-$2,500 retail for Limited Edition and $300 to $800 for Collection.
After a few seasons of playing with accessories, Malandrino is finally launching her first full shoe collection, which will hit the runway for her spring 2006 show. Malandrino designs both collections while her husband Bernard Aidan serves as CEO of the brand.

Catherine's clothes are simple and sexy. She makes wrap and pleat mini-skirts in satin and suede, leather and metallic quilted jackets, leather pants as well as wispy summer dresses in chiffon with ruffles and embroidery. Roughed up romantic looks in neutral palettes, fitted silhouettes, attention-getting sleeves, layers and netting, knitwear, negligee-inspired silks, and playful accents like hardware on shoulders.
