This innovative Danish brand was created in 1997 with the sole aim of creating exquisite design.

Inspired by Asian tailoring and culture from over a decade spent in Asia, founder Keld Mikkelsen wanted to create a business focused on a design driven product with a craftsmanship revival - manifested in details such as embroidery and beading - and focusing on contemporary everyday glamour.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen had it's first Autumn / Winter collection available in carefully selected retail shops, mainly in Scandinavia, in August 1998. Less than a year later in March 1999, Day Birger et Mikkelsen won the very prestigious Danish Design Award "The Golden Button."

During the past few years, the global ethnicity that initially characterized DAY Birger et Mikkelsen has become urbanized to appeal to metropolitan bohemians. To ensure continued creativity, individuality and longevity, DAY creates inspirational key looks and iconic designs within contemporary, classic and bohemian aesthetics that represent flexibility, responsibility and value for money.

DAY Birger et Mikkelsen comprises womenswear, menswear and interior collections, two Danish flagship stores and points of sale in more than a thousand shops across 25 countries. Day Birger et Mikkelsen has concept stores in London, Odense and Copenhagen. As well as smaller stores within Illum and Magasin in Denmark, NK and Spirit in Sweden, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols in the U.K., Galleries Lafayette in Paris and Brown Thomas in Ireland.

Since 1998 Day Birger et Mikkelsen has added six more product lines to the DAY Women concept: DAY Men, DAY Jewels, DAY Accessories, DAY Kids, DAY Lingerie, and the latest DAY Home.
